PRESS RELEASE

In honour of Passover the Right Honourable Prime Minister of Canada Mr.  Stephen Harper met with the executive committee of the Canadian Federation of Chabad Lubavitch to extend Passover greetings to the entire Jewish community.

The Prime Minister presented the delegation of Rabbis with an official letter acknowledging the immense contribution made by the Canadian Jewish community to Canadian society, and conveying his wishes that the blessings associated with Passover continue to touch their lives throughout the year.

The Prime Minister was then presented with a leather bound prayer book, emphasizing the universal message of so many of the prayers, the relationship between G‑d and all of humanity.

Rabbi Matusof presented to the PM a photo of the PM at the Matusof’s House (before he was elected as PM). The PM was excited and happy to receive a picture of him holding on his laps two of the Matusof boys, Yudi & Avremy, and asked for a picture to be taken of him self and Rabbi Matusof holding this frame.

The PM also thanked Rabbi Matusof for his friendship and support.

The meeting was of particular significance as it marked the 104th birthday of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who’s legacy lives on in the over 3500 Chabad Lubavitch centres world-wide and the over 80 here in Canada.
