PM Harper hosts Chanukah Celebration at his Private Residence

For the first time, Prime Minister Stephen Harper, hosted a Menorah lighting at his Private Residence, to mark the start of Chanukah.

Among the exclusive invited guests were representatives of the Canadian Federation of Chabad Lubavitch including: Rabbi Menachem & Rochel Matusof - Head Shluchim of Alberta, Rabbi Zalman & Esther Grossbaum - Head Shluchim of Ontario, Rabbi Berel Mochkin - Head Shliach Quebec, Rabbi Avrohom Altein - Head Shliach Manitoba, Rabbi Chaim Mendelsohn - Ottawa, Rabbi Yitzchok Wineberg - Head Shliach British Columbia , Rabbi Mendel Kaplan - Toronto, Rabbi Refoel Katz - Saskatoon, Rabbi Shmully Hecht - Kelowna.

The PM was honored with lighting the Shamash and Rabbi Altein with the lighting of the Menorah.

In the PM's remarks he said that he feels honored to be able to reciprocate since a number of years ago (Chanukah 2005) when he was still in opposition Rabbi & Mrs. Matusof opened their home for a Menorah lighting with him.
